South of the Everglades is good ol' Key West, the island where people come to drop out for awhile. The place is quirky and so are its people. It's also an artistic enclave where many artists have come to paint and write and gain island inspiration. Hemingway was one of its most celebrated residents back in the day. You can see where he lived and worked and drank. And since drinking is one of the main attractions here you won't want to miss a drink at the Green Parrot. This is the oldest bar on the island. It opened its door to thirsty travelers at the end of the 19th century and hasn't closed its doors since. The dive opens at ten in the morning and doesn't close ‘til four in the morning. So you can pop in for a drink or two anytime you wish! You won't find high-rise condos on Key West. Corporate America is far, far away.
